Launching at Lee Valley requires, ideally, a set of knee length waders. Visitors without the right gear will always get a helping hand from a suitably clad member.
The rescue boat is handy for recovering
boats out of control (yes it does happen occasionally) and for moving marks
of the course. As this picture shows strict safety codes are observed
when using the lake. Members are never allowed to sail on their own and a rescue
boat with safety jacket/buoyancy-aid must always be in attendance.
